Sports Field Renovation Specialist
Basic Job Description:
Utilize a standardized evaluation process for quoting new and prospective clients on athletic field
renovation and maintenance projects. Work in conjunction with upper-level management to implement
standardized process for providing quotes. Provide logistics, set-up and timeline for completing
projects. Layout and set up job on site. Depending on the size and scope of the project, employee will
complete the work individually, or work with and supervise a small crew including possible sub-
contractors to assure project quality, detail, and completion time. Fill out and track daily worksheets for
evaluating daily project work schedule and overall project budget and timeline. Review completed jobs
with management staff. Help make new equipment recommendations and help ensure equipment
cleanliness and maintenance. Help as needed with athletic turf fertilization and spray applications using
our state-of-the-art equipment. Help provide input to grow and expand the division of the company and
train staff.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess a working knowledge and understanding of elevation, slope, grade and drainage
principles and how they relate to proper athletic field renovation and positive surface drainage. - Must have proficiency working with dual slope and conical laser grading equipment.
- Understanding of Field layout dimensions and product knowledge.
- Working ability to calculate materials needed to properly quote a job, and manage materials and budget
on a job site. - Ability to instruct and direct personnel on a job site as needed to achieve proper results and completion
time of projects. - Ability to operate appropriate equipment and machinery needed to complete work.
- Have a turfgrass background and basic or advanced knowledge of turfgrass cultural practices and
fertilizer and soil nutrient requirements. - Helpful but not mandatory to possess a mechanical aptitude.
- Basic understanding and experience with spreadsheets.
Experience:
Ideal applicant shall be working in a role or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a position and
setting providing quality finished renovation/ restoration projects. Projects may include athletic field
renovations or golf course master plan or renovation work.
Physical:
- Ability to frequently lift 50 or more pounds, stand or walk for 8 or more hours, bend, kneel and
squat/crouch for long durations. Twisting, pushing, and pulling while using hand tools. Sitting as
needed for office work, to operate trucks, tractors and other equipment as needed. Ability to use
mechanic’s tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches. - Driver’s License: Clean Motor vehicle license with the ability to pass the required DOT physical.
- Work Hours: Variable by season of the year and project deadline requirements. Generally, 7:00 am. – 3:30 pm. plus
overtime as required. Weekend work is limited, however, may be required due to weather related
delays, backups in scheduling or project deadlines. - Environmental and Safety Hazards: Work predominantly outdoors in all climate conditions, hot, cold, rain etc. Exposure to equipment
noise, dust, and chemicals. Individual should be familiar with PPE. All applicable PPE shall be supplied by the employer. - Wage / Benefits: $28.00/hr. or more to a qualified candidate, plus Health & Dental Insurance, PTO, paid holidays, Simple IRA, year- end bonus, cell phone, and company issued and laundered uniforms.
- Reports To: Owner, General Manager
- Works in Tandem with: Director of Agronomy
